Tally

May 7, 2001 - November 10, 2009

After a very difficult week, we had to say goodbye to Tally. She had had some digestive complications ever since surviving gastric torsion in April 2007, but thanks to some creative vets she managed to live a pretty normal and happy life. A couple of times in the last few months her colon stopped functioning properly and this time our vet was not able to get things working again. It seems especially sad to lose her to such a small thing - there was no sign of cancer and all her organs were healthy. We miss her terribly. She was a truly amazing dog and one of the best.

Another sad day here at Blazingstar. Our cat, Maggie, came to the end of her very long life. She was such a fixture here and patiently taught all of our dogs and puppies about cats. Maggie was 19.5 years old. The dogs will all miss her and so will we.

Lupine and Tinbie went to the Red Deer Show. Lupine's daughter, Kona, was there as well, and some of the relatives from Prairielight kennel. We travelled with Amanda, 2 Cardigan corgies and a Pyrenean Shepherd, so it was a diverse weekend!  Liz ventured into the rally ring for the first time ever. Lupine qualified in Novice B both times, with a 2nd in class and a 4th in class. She had a great time too. Tinbie came home with a best of breed ribbon.

Annie (HR Blazingstar Beaufort CDX JH CGN) entered her first two Senior Hunter tests and passed both times!  Owner, Katy writes: "She did AWESOME work. There were about 47-49 dogs running Senior each day. She ran undeniably the best test of any dog on Saturday, and was in the top three on Sunday. She showed great style, and left her tad of stubbornness at home. Her marking was pinpoint accurate both days. She did all her blinds in three whistles or less, including a sharp angle entry blind on Sunday. It took most people 7-10 casts to get their dogs to the bird, and Annie took only three. Plus, with the sharp angle, at least 2/3 of the dogs got out of the water, and ran the bank back. Annie never even thought of it and swam a perfect line back. VERY impressive!"

Huge congratulations to Annie, Brian and Katy!! We are very proud and very excited, as these are the first Blazingstar's dog to get Senior Hunter legs!

Blizzie was also entered in her first Junior Hunter tests (Blizzie is Wally and Gusty's daughter). She also passed both tests.
