2012 Nature Notes from Blazingstar

One of Liz's favourite flowers - three-flowered avens, blooming in early June.

 

The cottonwood fluff flies in late June

 

July is off to a spectacular start, with an invasion of Monarch butterflies. While we've seen them in Lethbridge in the past, this is the first time we've ever seen them here.
 

In August we spend a lot of time in and around the river. Over the years we have found and collected quite a few "stones with holes" - here's one of this year's finds!
