Blazingstar Rain Litter - Week 4

The biggest news from this week is that the puppies started on solid food on Tuesday. Their teeth have erupted, they having been checking out Puffin's food bowls and giving us lots of indicators that they are ready for solid food. The ground turkey and goatsmilk mixture was a huge hit. They went up to 2 meals a day on Wednesday and by Thursday they were already very competent at eating out of their little puppy bowls. On Friday we upped them to three meals a day, where they will stay for a while. Puffin enjoys helping to clean up the post-meal mess and provides them with a milky dessert. She is very thin, and we are hoping that she will start to gain weight again now that the puppies are eating solid food.

Along with solid food came their first de-worming. Not so nice, but necessary and the puppies barely noticed the tiny pill that we gave them.

The puppies are starting to be much more interactive with each other - playing with their mouths and feet. They are also quite the explorers and manage to get all over the place in our kitchen while we are cleaning out their pen. Speaking of which, we have to do that much more often now that they are bigger and eating solid food!

At four weeks of age, we usually start to let our puppies explore the out-of-doors. The weather was not terribly nice this weekend (rain and yet more snow), but we did managed to get them out for a very short time. Everyone was very confident and interested in the grass, leaves and of course, our cats.

Four Week Old Portraits This week we had fun with Feathers! It was their first introduction to birds and everyone thought this was pretty exciting. We have done this with all of our litters when they turn 4 weeks old.
