Blazingstar Hummingbird Litter - Week 4

The highlight of Week 4 was the addition of "solid" food! More of a mush, really, but still very much enjoyed by the puppies. For the first couple of meals, they spread the food out and over each other and generally make a huge mess, but by the end of the week, they were much more efficient little eaters.

Despite the fact that they now have fully erupted puppy teeth, Puffin still lets them nurse regularly. She has also started regurgitating for them, which is kind of messy, but a natural part of weaning. We have to be careful what Puffin eats now and we try to keep her away from her puppies after her meals, as she is quite thin and needs her food for herself!

Their puppy pen needed expanding mid-week, to give them a bit more room and replace the short board with a higher board at the end (to prevent escapes, for now.....). While we clean out the puppy pen, the puppies get free run of the rest of our kitchen and lots of toys and other fun things to play with and explore.

By the end of week 4, the puppies got to spend short periods of time outside and had their first "picnics". The cats love this stage because they can fully interact with the puppies and enjoy any meal leftovers!

The never-ending chore of trimming nails....

They are starting to play and interact with each other a lot now!

Thank-you to Christine of Nearly Naked Neckware for sending us such gorgeous puppy collars!

Four Weeks Old Portraits As is our usual tradition at 4 weeks old, we had the puppies pose whilst holding bird feathers - the puppies were very cooperative!
